Sign-ups for this Resbang season close on August 25th, so if you’re thinking about it, don’t miss your chance!
Currently, we have: 25 stories 26 artists 12 fic betas 8 art betas

If you’re still on the fence about whether or not to join, remember you have many opportunities to drop from the event, but you only have a small window to join!
Authors have nearly an entire month after sign-ups close to figure out what they want to write before the first 2.5k word check-in. If the first check-in arrives and you realize that you will be unable to go forward and want to drop, there’s not any pressure to continue – you won’t have an artist partner assigned to you yet.
Artists have it even easier until first check-in! You’ll just sit back and froth at the mouth waiting for summaries to choose from in a month. And then, when story selection rolls around in September and it looks like you will be unable to complete any art, you’re free to dip out without being assigned to a partner.
And of course, participants can drop whenever they need to – it’s just a lot lower stakes this early in the game.
But if you want to participate at all, you gotta sign up! Come join all the resbangers, and make something only you can make!
second, technically speaking, i’ve only written for resbang once, in 2015, and i missed my posting date entirely. my fic is not part of the masterlists. it’s not even listed as a late entry, because i couldn’t make that date either.
so. as a mod, i can tell you what the mod blog tells you, which is: there’s time to think. you have options if things don’t go the way you plan. dropping out is ok, and you can always try again another season.
but as a resbang writer, i can tell you this: failing my resbang was worth every second of participating. every one.
i was like you – i had an idea of what i wanted to write, but i had NO idea what the plot would be, who the main characters would be, what ships i wanted, or how long it would actually end up being. but i signed up and gave it a go.
it was my first time really attempting a plot that complicated. it was my first time trying to seriously use timelines and outlines and character sheets and god knows what else. results were mixed, but some results were very good. i even had to make a map of a continent so i could accurately scale the distance and time it would take to travel between places to feel realistic.
obviously (or not), you don’t have to go full throttle on a resbang fic. you don’t have to write a 100k epic, or some world changing magnum opus. resbang’s minimum wordcount is 10k. that’s all you need to qualify as long as the fic is complete and spit-shined. i didn’t really think i’d write more than 15k or so, initially.
but see, resbang sets you up with artists, AND you can bring in betas yourself. so you get this team, right? and you’re all sworn to secrecy for months. you interact and build ideas and sometimes your group just meshes and creativity gets turned up to 11. so my little princess mononoke au turned into a 74k monster, and listen to me when i say, hands down, that story would not have existed at all if i hadn’t signed up for resbang. even though i had thought about writing it for a long time, i just never got around to it. but i signed up. and if i hadn’t, if i hadn’t met my artists, if i hadn’t yelled for months at my betas, Swallowing the Brimstone would not exist.
they were fundamental. they literally shaped the plot into what it became. what i think a lot of people don’t realize until after the fact is that resbang is built to be collaborative. partnerships are formed to make unified efforts, and my partnership with the #dream team in 2015 helped me learn so much about writing and storytelling and how people receive and perceive the things i write.
and i didn’t make it in time. i was the very last person scheduled, and i didn’t make it. i had worked SO. HARD. and i was emotionally devastated. i even told my artists they could post without me because they should at least be honorably mentioned– they did such incredible work for the story, and i wanted them to be proudly represented – but they didn’t do it. the team stuck with me, and i got the fic out about a week later. they waited for me and i still get really emotional about it??? and i’m emotionally illiterate most the time, so it’s a big deal for me to still have these feelings about my team, 3 years later.
anyway, the point is this: if you ask me whether or not you should sign up for resbang, even though x, y, and z, i’m going to tell you to sign up. because it’s worth it. even if you disqualify, it’s worth it. resbang grants you experience you might not otherwise get, for something you love doing. you are welcomed into an amazing community, and meet new people. you aren’t toiling along alone, you’re supported by your partners.
there is so much potential in you and your future team, and to me, it’s too heartbreaking to not take the chance to grow, you feel me?
so, tl;dr: sign up dude. do the thing. be the thing.
(shoutout to @tilliquoi and @blackstar for choosing my fic that year. you helped me so much.)
The SE Resonance Bang is a fandom-wide collaboration event. Authors and artists from all corners are welcomed and encouraged to collaborate with each other to celebrate the world and characters of Soul Eater and Soul Eater NOT!
The event spans 5+ months, so participants have ample time to complete fine works (but the sign-up window is short by comparison, so don’t wait too long to join in)!
What do?
Authors will write fic involving the theme (Out of the Woods) interpreted in any manner you see fit with any pairing or non-pairing, any genre (adventure/comedy/romance/smut/etc), and any universe (AUs/crossovers are welcome).
On a pre-planned date (timeline can be found below), anonymous summaries of the fics will be privately presented to participating artists. Artists will put in a claim for the top 10 fics of their choosing to collaborate with its author, and the Resbang Mods will facilitate the claiming process until all fics are claimed.
Fics are to be written and fully completed over the course of several months, with the end goal of having a polished, complete story with at least 10,000 words by the group’s deadline. At least one work of art pertaining to a chosen fic is to be fully completed by the group’s deadline.
All fics need to be written newly for Resbang, and all fanart must be done newly for Resbang. These works must not have ever been publicly posted or shared prior to the assigned deadline. Your project is a secret to be revealed at the end of the event. If you’re unsure about what this means, please feel free to contact the mods at resbangmod@gmail.com.
Artists are not limited to drawn/painted media— artists may make graphics, AMV’s, fanmixes, cosplays, photography, music compositions, fanfood, – anything creative as long as it pertains to the story they have claimed. Your range is broad, so if drawing isn’t your forte, don’t count yourself out!
Still want to participate even though you’re not much of a writer or artist? You can volunteer to be a beta! Resbangers may call on you for your opinion and input on their fics or artwork, and you can help them by critiquing before anyone else is allowed to see their work!
Important Stuff!
Please note that this is not a competition. Resbang is an opportunity for the Soul Eater fandom to come together, meet new people, and collaborate to create wonderful new things! There is no required skill level for writing or making art. If you’re a little shy, this is a great chance to get to know fellow fans.

How do I join?
Resbang is hosted by the GrigoriWings forum, which is a Jcink community. Anonymous posting is not available, so you must make a Jcink account/screen name to participate. Once you have a Jcink account, you can register via the various sign-up threads. The ResBangMod Tumblr will be an active promotion and announcement blog, but primary participation will be through the forum and NOT through Tumblr.
Please note that ALL pairings, as well as general/non-rom stories, are welcome and encouraged! The more varied fandom participation we receive, the better Resbang will be, so please don’t hesitate to share across the fandom board or step out of your pairing comfort zone. Intolerance of other pairings, rude behavior, and harassment of other participants will not be tolerated. This includes harassing others to create something on a subject or ship they are not interested in. Harassers will be perma-banned from the GrigoriWings board and removed from any participation in Resbang, present or future, and may also be banned from the Discord server.
Howdy SE fans, Marsh of Sleep here. With Reverb still in full swing, and Resbang quickly approaching, the time has come to humbly ask for your donations to cover our forum costs.
Grigori Wings, which is the archive for all past Resbangs and Reverbs, is hosted on Jcink. While Jcink is initially free, in order for us to continue events like Resbang and Reverb which allow adult content, we have to have a higher service package. Upgrading the forum gives us utilities to keep adult content away from minors, and allows our bang events to continue within Jcink’s terms of service. Also it gets rid of ads! Praise.
To help keep us running, we the mods (and I the forum code monkey) are asking for your support! If you like Resbang and Reverb, appreciated the content the fandom has poured out (for five years and running!), or like what our teams of mods have organized every year, please consider tossing a couple of bucks at our Ko-Fi! Your cash dolla goes a long way to keeping our events afloat.
We love you guys – without you we wouldn’t have events to organize! Thanks for making our community so strong every year.

resbang 2017 fanmix for the Wayward Souls series: Acts I & 2 [Act 1: pacts] [Act 2: allies]
Spirited away by the supernatural, Wes Evans has been missing for five years. Soul, teamed up with huntress Maka Albarn, has been trying to track him down, but a routine job turns devastating when his partner dies. Soul makes a desperate deal to bring her back, but the price is high and the stakes are even higher with both new and old enemies on the rise – the both of them will need the help of many allies, both human and otherwise, to save Wes, and each other. [Supernatural Series AU]
Pairing: Soul/Maka, various minor pairings Rating: M Warnings: Violence, Blood, Gore, Language, Minor Character Death, Dream-world suicide, PTSD, Psychologically distressing situations
@jaded-envy has written a monster of a Supernatural AU this year, and I hope that these tunes will make the experience that much more gritty, bloody, spooky, and badass. Find more about it here and here. @thefishywitchy was another great partner in crime, and you can check out their badass artworks here.
I also did a slew of other artwork, including the cover art for this mix. You can find all that here.
Anyway, pretty proud of this one. Vague southern-gothic vibes, rock, blues, harmonicas, ghosts, shrieking strings, rib-shaking bass riffs, and ripping the jaws of death apart to live another day.

Hi, I was lucky enough to be one of the artists for @jaded-envy‘s resbang. I guess the secret theme this year was cards, because a bunch of us resbangers had similar ideas rofl. Kind of an inspirational mash up between card captor sakura and these tarot summoning cards from FF type-0. Everything apart from the card frames and sigils was done in Photoshop CS6; frames and sigils were lined in SAI.
Anyway i have six more cards planned, which will be released when jaded finishes Part III of the series, so please look forward.
You can find all of the artwork in nearly almost full res [they’re very bode]: here
Soul had always dreamed of working undercover on a high-profile investigation that ended in massive promotions and a ride in a chopper, but he really hadn’t expected to get there by waking up alone and hung over without his badge or his shoes in a Jeep being towed cross-country. The fact that there was a high-profile crime lord heir calling him ‘bro’ and claiming that demonic werewolves killed his family didn’t help. The deadpan federal agent who informed him via walkie-talkie that he was now part of a top secret witness protection gig that involved being part of a fake polyamorous gay threesome didn’t, either.
