aaand here’s a simplified process gif coz idk, that’s what the kids do these days. just remember, even your most neon, drunken, roughest of drafts, be it for writing or arting, are more important to the grand design than people give credit. the mess is the foundation, it helps you see beyond the blank page
thanks once again to the zinefolk and everyone i kept barfing my WIPs to for validation, i am a needy fungus
please look forward! there’s a lot of great contributors working hard ❤
wip of some flower practice for a project that’s been on my mind
the noise in the night is gonna get a little louder, baby
resbang 2017 fanmix for the Wayward Souls series: Acts I & 2 [Act 1: pacts] [Act 2: allies]
Spirited away by the supernatural, Wes Evans has been missing for five years. Soul, teamed up with huntress Maka Albarn, has been trying to track him down, but a routine job turns devastating when his partner dies. Soul makes a desperate deal to bring her back, but the price is high and the stakes are even higher with both new and old enemies on the rise – the both of them will need the help of many allies, both human and otherwise, to save Wes, and each other. [Supernatural Series AU]
Pairing: Soul/Maka, various minor pairings Rating: M Warnings: Violence, Blood, Gore, Language, Minor Character Death, Dream-world suicide, PTSD, Psychologically distressing situations
@jaded-envy has written a monster of a Supernatural AU this year, and I hope that these tunes will make the experience that much more gritty, bloody, spooky, and badass. Find more about it here and here. @thefishywitchy was another great partner in crime, and you can check out their badass artworks here.
I also did a slew of other artwork, including the cover art for this mix. You can find all that here.
Anyway, pretty proud of this one. Vague southern-gothic vibes, rock, blues, harmonicas, ghosts, shrieking strings, rib-shaking bass riffs, and ripping the jaws of death apart to live another day.

Hi, I was lucky enough to be one of the artists for @jaded-envy‘s resbang. I guess the secret theme this year was cards, because a bunch of us resbangers had similar ideas rofl. Kind of an inspirational mash up between card captor sakura and these tarot summoning cards from FF type-0. Everything apart from the card frames and sigils was done in Photoshop CS6; frames and sigils were lined in SAI.
Anyway i have six more cards planned, which will be released when jaded finishes Part III of the series, so please look forward.
You can find all of the artwork in nearly almost full res [they’re very bode]: here
Rules: It’s time to love yourselves! Choose your 5 favorite works you’ve created this year (fics, art, edits, etc!) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you’ve brought into the world in 2017. Tag as many writers/artists/etc as you want (fan or original!) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome works. ❤
this year isn’t/wasn’t one i would call a happy fun time, and i didn’t get to write even a fraction as much as i had not only *intended*, but even just the barebone minimum i think i need just to feel like a person
upside, i did more digital arting than usual, so that’s something. have some gratuitous thumbnails.
i’m not happy with soul and maka at all but you know what? this path. i love this path a lot, forget the rest, i like the dirt. i missed painting things that aren’t, like, people
it’s probably common knowledge; i have bad dreams on a regular basis, but sometimes they give good creative fodder. also it was nice to do something abstract again
i had tried making the bat witch from Ask No Questions on 4 separate occasions – i wanted her to be human enough to know what she’s thinking but not human enough to give you a sense of the inevitable– but that’s really hard to do when you hobble yourself with references because you think you’re worthless and have no inherent vision. at wit’s end, i said fuck off to references and just made some strokes in grey and said that’s it, you don’t get anything else, put on your big fungus pants and get to work. is this totally polished? no. do i totally polish anything? no, and i keep forgetting and i need to stop beating myself up over it because it’s only the overall impression that matters, the foundation, the frame. fuck you reference folder, i use u, i don’t rely on u
anyway thanks for tagging me, i’m not really up for tagging others; i’m the end of my meme family line, my bad.
Summary: Melody is the only daughter of Maka and Soul Evans. She has struggled with feelings of bitterness and loss, and the unwanted pity of her peers, since Soul supposedly walked out when she was a child. But when she secretly witnesses her father’s brief return eight years later, she learns that he may not have abandoned her after all–and that he may be in grave danger. Confused, intrigued, and sick of living with a “broken” family, Melody enlists the help of her partner and her mother’s old friends to find out the truth, and bring her father home for good.
Pairing: Gen
Rating: R
Warnings: Language, family drama/dysfunction, abandonment, descriptions of depression, mild blood, and blackmail, intense scenes of violence, kidnapping/hostage situation
